First day of school
I will now start to write in English due to the fact that this blog can really help me get my English going and is a easy way to exersise my writing skills.
So, my first day of school. First of all - wow. We began our first class at 12:30 pm. We arrived to the school approximately at 12:10 pm so we just went to look for our classroom and then headed to the cafeteria. When we had five minutes left til our class started we went to the classroom, only to find out we were in the wrong one. The teacher kindly pointed out the "real" classroom and wished us all the luck on our first day, and we sure needed it. Because, when we arrived to 127A (we thought it was 127) we knocked on the door and found out by a man in a blue overall that this room no longer was a classroom, but infact was the janitor's office. Yay, once again a door shut in our face.
It was now well over schedule so we ran across the corridor towards the student offices. The women behind the desk made a few phone calls and then told us that there had been some mix up with the schedule but the number she now wrote down on my paper was the right one. WE WEREN'T EVEN IN THE RIGHT BUILDING. When we tried our third class room (if we count the janitor's office) we sort of gave up. The door was closed and the room was black as the sin. Every one turned to the front door when a man stands right in front of us asking us if we are "the scandinaviens". JA, VI ÄR SKANDINAVIERNA, TA OSS MED DIG TILL ETT KLASSRUM. LÄR OSS NÅGOT. He finds us a new classroom and finally we can begin with our first lesson in Advanced Journalism.
So, our teacher, Jack Curry (who look just like Captain Barbossa in Pirates of Carribean) has been a journalist for a lot of years, can't remember how many. He worked mostly in the entertaintment industry where he interviewed celebreties like Tom Cruise and Madonna. Pretty cool. And he was also a pretty cool man. I liked him, alot.
After the lesson we had to wait three houres for our next one, Photojournlism so we went out for lunch. Then the lesson started and we came in to this computer lab with only big MacBook-screens. LOVE IT. For the whole lesson (2.5 h) we just watched a bunch of different pictures, commented them and told to the class what we felt och thought about them. I think it will be interesting.
Today we only had one class, at 08:00 am. Business and Professional Communication. I LOVED IT. It was so fun, even though we just interviewed each other. In the American classrooms everything is so simple. The teachers are making jokes, the students laughs and have no problem with speaking in front of the class. So far I love the college life, but it starts with a boom. I already have seven homeworks so I better be going...
Hope it's okay that I wright in English and correct me if I'm spelling or making some mistakes!
